Destin Florida beaches, voted the “safest in the country” are among the top ten in the country.  Along the expansive waters of Choctawahatchee Bay, are miles and miles of pure playground for seeking shells, bronzing in the sun, building sand castles, soul searching and surrendering to sun-drenched solitude and contemplation.

Florida's Emerald Coast, featuring the vacation destinations of Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island features sand dunes, some 50 feet high.  During storms and hurricanes, dune sand washes into the sea and reduces the energy of storm waves.  These dunes act as dikes against flooding and as reservoirs of sand to replenish the  beach.
